The establishment of a stronger national government with executive power is a pivotal aspect of the U.S. Constitution. Prior to its ratification, the Articles of Confederation had created a weak national government that struggled to address the various challenges facing the new nation, such as economic instability and interstate disputes. The Constitution aimed to rectify these deficiencies by consolidating authority at the federal level and creating a separate executive branch led by the president. This not only provided for a unified leadership but also ensured that the national government had the power to enforce laws, manage foreign affairs, and oversee national defense. The inclusion of an executive branch marked a significant shift toward a more robust framework for governance, enabling the federal government to operate effectively and respond to the needs of the nation.
